The Swinging Bridge Chardonnay 2006 -$17 (posted by Nick)

The Swinging Bridge Chardonnay 2006 caused a stir late last year by being selected in the Top 40 Wines at the NSW Wine Awards.
A label little known up to that point, the wines packaged under this label are made from the best fruit grown on the Ward family’s Canowindra property, half an hour from Cowra in the Central Regions of NSW. The Central Ranges is still a relatively obscure region in terms of national awareness, but Chardonnay is the variety that consistently produces the region’s best wines.
Bottled in clear glass, the colour, when poured, is no surprise - light yellow with faint tinges of pale green. The nose suggests a broad and developed style with ripe peach nuances. Oak is subtle. Ripeness is evident in the mouth, with peach and marmalade dominant. Creamy texture. Acid is there, though I think this is drinking at its best now. Cellar door is selling this wine for $13.92 in a dozen - a solid drink at this price!
